The Force

The Force is an energy field generated by living things in the Star Wars galaxy. A small minority of living things have the ability to manipulate this energy field for "paranormal" effects. Force-sensitive individuals can be identified by a high concentration of microscopic midichlorians living in their cells.

Force-related phenomena include (but are not necessarily limited to):

• Telekinesis
• Telepathy
• Precognition
• Clairvoyance
• Superhuman feats of strength, speed, and endurance
• Generation and control of electric arcs
• Projection of images over interstellar distances
• Rapid healing of injuries (usually of others)
• Telepresence
  • Luke Skywalker demonstrated telepresence in The Last Jedi, allowing him to appear to and communicate with people in a different star system
  • Rey and Kylo Ren exhibit telepresence with each other in The Rise of Skywalker sufficient to engage in a lightsaber duel remotely and exchange objects with each other

The Force in Debates

In versus debates involving Star Wars, the Force is generally assumed to exist in all galaxies and universes.
