The Russian Federation is a Eurasian nation created after the fall of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics in 1991. It is the world's largest nation geographicially and has a large population (142 million people) and has a relatively powerful military and an established space program, but Russia has suffered economically after the fall of Communism and it will be some time before the recovery is complete.

The Russian Federation in Science Fiction
- In the Stargate universe, The Russian Federation was in possetion of one of Earth's Stargates as well as a Dial home Device and has been actively involved in the Stargate Program. In an agreement with the United States government, the Russian Federation has been given the designs for the F-302 Fighter and the BC-303, as well as operating the American Built Daedalus-class Battlecruiser Korolev before it was destroyed by the Ori.
