The Y-wing was a type of fighter/bomber used by the Rebel alliance during the galactic civil war. The Y-Wing was well shielded and armored and carried a sizable bomb payload as well as an ion cannon for disabiling enemy fighters, but lacked in manuverability and required alot of matinence to keep fuctioning at full order. Because of this, often they would go into battle with armored plating removed and their ion cannons non fuctional.
