The USS Excelsior (NCC-2000) is the prototype Excelsior-class Starfleet starship. Outfitted with transwarp drive, it was to be the fastest ship in the Federation. The main drives were trivially sabotaged by its chief engineer, Montgomery Scott, and was later commanded by captain Hikaru Sulu.
