A few weeks later, Starfleet and the Romulans successfully created a defense against the weapon. Admiral Ross sent the USS São Paulo to Deep Space 9. It was renamed USS Defiant. In the Battle of Cardassia, the new USS Defiant, fough exceptionally well in the battle.
