The Terran Empire is a Faction base in alternate version of the Star Trek universe in which human civilization diverged at some point; when exactly was this point of divergence has never been specified although it apparently happened before the 20th century, and various theories exist among the fans as to when it might be. In this timeline, Terran civilization became an expansionistic, militaristic, autocratic state that (among other things) enslaved various species, used brutal military discipline, and condoned military advancement via assassination of superior officers.
