The Tector-class star destroyer is a variant of the Imperial-class. It was designed specifically to fight other capital ships, rather than as a multi-role ship like the Imperial. It was more heavily armored and lacked the vulnerable ventral hangar of the Imperial-class. Due to the fact that the Empire's enemies posessed very few capital ships, the Tector-class was produced only in limited numbers, although at least one was present at the Battle of Endor.
