The (N) as noted on the original page was part of the Enterprise's formal designation and did not stand for Nuclear as that designation was not existing then. It stands for Night Operations(hence the Parentheses to distinguish from the later use for Nuclear) as the ship was specifically configured for the round the clock night and daylight raids. Not every carrier in WWII was set up for running night raids and landings hence the addition of the N to the Enterprise's designation.
Just because a future use of N For Nuclear is no reason to ignore this part of the Enterprise's history.
