Countermeasures

I would dispute the argument that the Enterprise crew could have depressurized Borg-occupied areas of the ship to hamper the Borg advance. The Borg drones that went outside the hull to modify the deflector dish did so without any sort of environmental suit, and they did not appear to be suffering any harm. Depressurizing the area would harm the crewmembers trying to fight the Borg far more than it would harm the Borg intruders. Cutting power to entire decks -- particularly the Engineering decks, where major power sources are located -- may not be possible, at least not without control of the Engineering areas themselves. --Ted C 14:30, 9 November 2007 (EST)

• The thing is; the Borg cannot survive without their organic parts; look what happened to the Borg Queen when Data smashed the plasma coolant manifold and flooded the entire engineering area. Human beings simply cannot survive in vacuum without a pressure suit; due to the pressure differential being enough to cause their blood to boil away. I chalk this one up to the stupid "crack in event horizon" type of brainbug by Trek writers.--MKSheppard 14:32, 9 November 2007 (EST)
  • Borg cannot survive without their organic parts, but they can survive in a vacuum. The only reasonable conclusion is that their implants or "nanoprobes" somehow enable them to survive in open space for extended periods of time (several minutes at the very least). --Ted C 14:35, 9 November 2007 (EST)
