I'm curious if anyone knows where this 1,200 ship number for the Alliance fleet comes from as I can find no mention of the fleet's numbers outside of the Romulan represenative Velal's comment of "At a cost of thousands of ships." from the previous episode "The Dogs of War". Obviously the Alliance cannot lose thousands of ships, if they only send in a mere 1,200.

The episode "When it Rains..." has this dialog:

MARTOK: By tomorrow, we'll have fifteen hundred Klingon vessels ready for deployment.

ROMULAN: With the Breen, the Cardassians and the Jem'Hadar, you're still outnumbered twenty to one.

A twenty to one ratio would mean the Dominion and allies can field 30,000 ships. Most of those are withdrawn later from Federation, Klingon, and Romulan territory to shorten the Dominion's supply lines, improve defense, and make the Dominion forces less vunerable to hit and run attacks. Many of those ships were pulled to defend Cardassia Prime against the Alliance invasion, so one could conclude that tens of thousands of vessels participated.
