Stargate is a Science fiction franchise created by MGM entertainment. Generally well received among SD.net's Population (the odd fusspot aside (see Stark)). It gets its name from the Stargate network (a network of ring shaped devices, that via wormholes allow for intersteller travel), which allows the Modern United States Military (latter with international as well as a small fleet of Spacecraft) to move about the galaxy and fight against extraterrestrial powers threatening earth

Movies

  • Stargate (Movie), (1994) the orgininal Movie set around the first Stargate expediion to Abydos and a fight against the Goa'uld Ra. The movie itself was done well enough to establish the Fanbase, although it is generally agreed to be not the best part of the Franchise. It also introduced two main charicters, Jack O'neill and Dr. Daniel Jackson.
  • Stargate SG1 (1997-2006)is generally agreed to be the best of the series, despite retconning certain facts about the Goa'uld (primary villians until season 9) and a few questionable episodes in the fist season, it rapidly went on to establish itself by high quality writing (on both the levels of writing and acting) and acting with the audiance.
  • Stargate Atlantis (2004 onwards), new series that involves an expedition to another galaxy, not as well received as Stargate, but still watchable by most.

Several Direct to DVD movies are also in the works
