A Space Suit is a garment designed to maintain a personal habitable environment for the wearer in space.

Space Suits in Science Fiction

• For technical reasons relating to bulk and the time required to don spacesuits, some engineers had suggested a type of spacesuit which, instead of providing pressure to the user via compressed air, provides pressure to the user mechanically. Several science fiction universes (such as Planetes) have embraced this idea.
