A Space Suit is a garment designed to maintain a personal habitable environment for the wearer in space.

For technical reasons relating to bulk and the time required to don spacesuits, some engineers had suggested a type of spacesuit which, instead of providing pressure to the user via compressed air, provides pressure to the user mechanically. Several science fiction universes (such as Planetes) have embraced this idea.
Stormtrooper Armor can be used as a spacesuit for a limited period of time
