The USS Enterprise approaches the space amoeba

A giant space amoeba posed a threat to the Federation in the TOS episode "The Immunity Syndrome". The amoeba absorbed energy from everything around it, including stars and living beings. Even worse, it appeared to be on the verge of reproducing by fission. Fortunately, it was unable to cope with a large release of antimatter in its nucleus.
