The Quarran are secondary race of sapient beings that share their home planet with the Mon Calamari.

Appearance

Ironically, of the two species living on the planet, the Quarren look more like squids then do the species the planet is best known for. In appearance, a Quarren has a humanoid body plan and has a head that looks like a squid with a centralized beak-like mouth surrounded by vestigial tentacles. Their hands appear very similar to those of the Mon Calamari and all Quarrens appear shorter then most Mon Calamari do.

Relationship with the Mon Calamari

Most Quarrens live in a lower class situation to the more aggressive and dominant Mon Calamari. This has lead to some measure of resentment and distrust by some parts of the Quarren population against the Mon Calamari. According to EU back story sources, it was a renegade Quarren who disabled the Planetary shields of the planet allowing the Empire to enslave both the Quarrens and the Mon Calamari. After the occupation, many Quarrens found their way into the criminal underbelly of the Galaxy with at least two seen in Jabba's court.
