Abuse of Quantum Mechanics

Debaters of many subjects are prone to claiming that quantum mechanics support whatever claim they are making, although they generally have no understanding of quantum mechanics and cannot explain how quantum mechanics supports their argument. Bogus claims of quantum mechanics support are extremely common among proponents of psychic phenomena, alternative medicine, alien visitation, and Star Trek technological superiority.

One common misconception is that the development of theories of quantum mechanics somehow made all previous scientific theories (such as the Einstein's Theory of Relativity or Newton's Laws of Motion) obsolete, when they did nothing of the sort.
