Pod racers

Pod racing is a popular sport on Tatooine and other worlds in the Star Wars galaxy.

A racing pod consists of a small cockpit loosely attached to a pair of oversized jet engines, all of which are supported by repulsorlift technology.

The object of a pod race is to complete a specified number of laps around a closed track faster than other racers. Typically, there are many pods on the track simultaneously. A track usually has numerous turns and obstacles, and at the high speeds that racing pods can attain, the sport is extremely dangerous.

According to Qui-Gon Jinn, humans do not have the reflexes to be competitive at pod racing unless they are sensitive to the Force.
