Button, button, who's got the button?

The Jedi council consists of 12 Jedi Knights. They reside in the top spire of the Jedi temple, where they assign tasks to Jedi and promote Padawan learners to Jedi Knights. In the days of the Old Republic, Jedi Master Yoda led the council.
