Jedi
The Jedi Order is an organization that trains individuals sensitive to the Force to use their power to help maintain order in the Galactic Republic. The Jedi serve primarily as investigators, negotiators, and special police, but during the Clone Wars, they served as officers in the Grand Army of the Republic. The Jedi Order requires strict discipline from its members and only trains them in Light Side Force techniques.
Organization
According to secondary sources, there are three primary roles that Jedi pursue.
- Jedi Guardian - primarily combatants
- Jedi Consular - primarily diplomats
- Jedi Sentinel - primarily scouts, explorers, or investigators
The Jedi Order is commanded by the Jedi Council, which consists of Master-ranked Jedi. The Order exists to serve the Republic and generally does the wishes of the Supreme Chancellor of the Republic, although such authority usually does not extend to internal matters of the Order, such as the awarding of ratings and the selection of Jedi Council members.
