The Imperial Senate is a SDN usergroup of some of the respected debaters who regularly post on the board and have contributed to discussions. The Imperial Senate subforum is where Senators discuss and vote on board policy. Moderators and Admins are considered a part of the Senate.
Purpose
The Imperial Senate is an experiment in board democracy. Potential members are nominated and voted into the Senator position.
The Senate discusses board policy based on their own concerns as well as concerns that have been brought to their attention by other board members. They also vote on changes to board policy.
In addition, the Senate handles discussion of and, if necessary, voting on punishment for board members who have committed infractions on the rules.
Perks
- Senators are allowed to edit their own posts, regardless of the normal editing restrictions on some of the subforums. As respected members, they are expected not to abuse this power.
