The Hulk is a character from Marvel Comics who is prominent in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
History
Dr. Bruce Banner was a researcher attempting to reproduce the "super soldier serum" that was used to transform the sickly young Steve Rogers into Captain America. He believed that gamma radiation was the key to achieving similar or better results, and used himself as a test subject. He accidentally over-exposed himself to the gamma rays, resulting in his periodic transformation into the Hulk.
Attributes
Dr. Banner is a scientific genius with expertise in medicine and radiation. His physical traits are unremarkable unless something triggers one of his transformations into the Hulk. These transformations can be triggered by uncontrolled rage or an imminent threat. Dr. Banner has also shown that he can trigger the transformation at will. Only calming down will reverse the transformation.
The Hulk lacks much of Banner's intelligence, but he is immensely strong and resistant to injury. He can easily lift many tons of mass, and he has been seen to tear armored vehicles apart with his bare hands. His skin is tough enough to withstand sustained fire from military weapons, including anti-tank weapons, without suffering serious harm. His great strength allows him to leap for distances of miles.
Realism
The Hulk isn't just stronger and tougher than Bruce Banner, he's substantially larger and heavier, as well. There is no rational explanation for where the hundreds of pounds of additional mass come from when Banner becomes the Hulk, nor is there any explanation for where it goes when he transforms back.
