Gravity well projectors are devices similar to tractor beams that interfere with hyperdrive operation by simulating the presence of a massive object like a planet; they appear only in EU materials. They can be used to pull starships out of hyperspace or prevent them from entering. While associated mainly with Interdictor-class Star Destroyers of the Galactic Empire, the technology has existed for thousands of years.
