Geonosis is a planet in the Outer Rim Territory. It is notable for having a ring system in orbit, being mostly arid and being the homeworld of the eusocial Geonosians, with their Cathedral-like hives dominating the landscape.
History
In an attempt to circumvent Republic laws, Baktoid Armor Workshop established several prominent droid factories on outlying worlds, including Geonosis. Because of this Geonosis became a prominent arms production center and under the rule of Archduke Poggle the Lesser became one of the first systems to join the Confederacy of Independant Systems. It was also the site of the Battle of Geonosis, which was the first battle of the Clone Wars.
