A fandom refers to a body of people which are united in some common interest of leisure. Fandoms range from sports to fashion to fiction and can be either broad or focused. In the case of SD.net, science fiction and fantasy related fandoms are most prevalent.

Among any fandom of size, you will inevitably get some fanwhores and other bad eggs. This is just the law of averages. A few fandoms will get more of these than they deserve regardless of the quality of the material itself. This is just bad luck.
