- San 'Shyuum (Prophets): Leaders of the Covenant.
- Sangheili (Elites): Tall (2.3 to 2.6 meters) humanoids with a hunched over stance, digigrade legs and four independent mouthpieces.
- Unggoy (Grunts): Short Methane breathing humanoids, the Unggoy are at the lowest stratum of covenant society.
