Comfort women were women drafted into the Japanese army for the purpose of providing sexual services to Japanese soldiers. Since their service was not voluntary, this is an example of forced prostitution. Most comfort women were from Korea, though it is likely that all occupied territories were subject to conscription.
Some Japanese deny that such services were forced, or that comfort women never existed in the first place, much like some Europeans deny the Holocaust ever took place.
