Babylon 5

Babylon 5 is a science fiction television series created by J. Michael Straczynski that originally aired from 1994 through 1999. The setting is a space station of the same name. As the series progressed, fans of the show began to become active in the versus debate community.

Versus Debating

Babylon 5 quickly acquired a following of fanatical "Fivers" who decided that the militaries of the various B5 races (especially the Vorlons and Shadows, but often the humble Earth Alliance) could easily defeat the Star Trek Federation and the Star Wars Galactic Empire. These fanatics wasted no time producing inflated estimates of B5 power generation, speed, and firepower to exceed the corresponding estimates from other science fiction franchises.
