The Adepta Sororitas (also known as the Sisters of Battle) is a branch of the Ecclesiarchy of the Imperium of Man. An entirely female organization, the forces of the militant branches of the Adepta Sororitas are the soul standing army of the Ecclesiarchy, the Ecclesiarchy being banned from keeping "men under arms".

Organization

The Adepta Sororitas gains most of its recruits from the Schola Progenium, an organization that raises children (usually orphans) from an early age to serve the Imperium militarily. It also provides the Imperial Guard with Commissars and Stormtroopers.

As well as the Militant wings of the Adepta Sororitas, various non militant wings exist dedicated to things including Medicine and Translation.

The field commander of a force of Adepta Sororitas soldiers is known as a Canoness.

Tactics and Equipment

While lacking the myriad biological enhancements of the Imperial Space Marines, the Adepta Sororitas have the resources to equip the Sisters with power armor. The Adepta Sororitas also makes heavy use of flame-thrower-based weaponry and generally prefer close combat.

For support, the Adepta Sororitas use of rocket artillery for long-range support as well as vehicles armed with heavy flame-throwers, but they lack true main-battle tanks.
