Pulse phasers are a powerful type of pulse weapon used by the United Federation of Planets on Defiant-class starships. Pulse phasers appear to sacrifice some of the range, precision, and flexibility of standard phaser beams to achieve greater damage.
Pulse phaser banks are not "strips" like the phaser arrays of Galaxy-class starships, meaning they have limited firing arcs: they can only fire into a narrow cone forward of the ship.
