Mass driver

A mass driver is a weapon that propels a very massive object toward a target. It's a "sci-fi chic" term for things like cannons and railguns.

Examples

• In Babylon 5, mass drivers are weapons of mass destruction used to bombard planets from orbit, using near-orbit asteroids as ammunition.
• In Halo, the main armament of spacecraft are forward mounted Magnetic Accelerator Cannons
• Mass accelerators in Mass Effect propel metal slugs via mass effect technology.
