Karen Traviss is the author of several Star Wars novels (including the "Republic Commando" series) and the originator of the ridiculous figure of three million clones for the entire Republic Army. She is also guilty of extreme Mando-wanking and all-around bad writing, including the resurrection of Admiral Daala and the death of Gilead Pellaeon.
Karen Traviss has attempted to present her previous jobs with the Royal Navy Auxiliary Service and the Territorial Army as credentials for why her outline of the force structure for the Grand Army of the Republic is acceptable from a military point of view. The RNXS appears to have operated in a FEMA-like role for harbor evacuations, and her description of her duties indicates that she was a deck seaman. In the United States Navy, these are the least qualified personnel, not trusted even to cook. She then served "briefly" in the Territorial Army as a media specialist. As she did not serve in a significant capacity in a combat arms branch, her military credentials cannot reasonably be used to justify her proposed Grand Army of the Republic force structure.

She once threatened to "rip out the tracheas" of her critics, which seems to be an odd comment for a "media specialist" to make.
Star Wars Order 66: A Republic Commando Novel came out September 16th. "After the fierce combat of Hard Contact, Triple Zero, and True Colors comes the spectacular culmination of New York Times bestselling author Karen Traviss's gripping Republic Commando series."
On August 8th, 2009, Traviss announced that the second Imperial Commando book would be her last Star Wars novel, citing "changes in continuity". Needless to say, there was much rejoicing.
