| 1987 Rebecca at home on the family farm, holding her dog Bella. Bella was a sheltie and she was Rebecca's first dog. Unfortunately, Bella did not survive long after Rebecca went to university. This picture is not a fake. Rebecca really was the stereotypical small town girl, and that really is the wooden fence on her family's farm. | ![]() |

1990 Rebecca at university, around the time I met her. I actually met her in the fall of 1989, but it took a while to get to know her and start dating, which didn't happen until December. It wasn't until 1990 when we were really seriously dating in earnest. |
| 1991 Rebecca posing with her friends from Conrad Grebel College, on the University of Waterloo campus. She's the one in the lower right corner. | ![]() |

1992 Rebecca at the Epcot Center in Orlando, Florida. Yes, we went to Florida for our honeymoon. Yes, I know it's totally clichéd. |
| 1993 Rebecca at Niagara Falls, Ontario. We went in the winter, and while it was (obviously) very cold, the freezing temperatures and omnipresent ice lent a certain stark beauty to the scenery. | ![]() |

1995 Rebecca, pregnant with our first son Matthew! Rebecca was really happy to be pregnant; she's one of those old-fashioned girls (no kidding; I plucked her off a dairy farm), and she really did seem to "glow" with the expectation of motherhood. |
| 1996 Rebecca sitting on the front lawn of our house at Port Lambton Ontario with Matthew and Fuzzy. Despite money problems and a house that was (ahem) far from perfect, this was probably her happiest time with Matthew. He was the perfect baby in many ways, and she could walk to the corner store to get basic groceries. | ![]() |

1997 Rebecca with Matthew and me in Sombra, Ontario. The house here was much nicer than the house in Port Lambton, but it was also farther away from civilization and there was a sense of isolation. |
| 1998 Rebecca with the boys. She was (and is) a very devoted mother, so it should come as no surprise that she was always happiest when taking care of them. | ![]() |

1999 Rebecca with the boys at our friend Annie's wedding north of Toronto. |
| 2000 My naughty little nurse! Sadly, this costume fell apart a long time ago. Those Halloween store costumes are made of really cheap materials. Luckily, there are numerous places on the Internet where you can order high quality nurse costumes made of much better materials. | ![]() |

2003 Rebecca with David at the in-laws' place. Unfortunately, we don't have a lot of pictures of Rebecca herself through this period, because our activities were always so focused on the kids. That's one of the dangers of motherhood (well, parenthood for that matter); you can easily become submerged beneath the needs and interests of your children. |
| 2004 Finally, a picture of Rebecca without the kids! This was taken in Mississauga Ontario while waiting for Matthew to come out of a doctor's appointment. In my mind, I think this is usually the image that I think of when she enters my mind. | ![]() |

2005 Rebecca and the boys down at the Harbourfront in Toronto. You can't see Fuzzy in frame (you can only see the thin black line of his leash, which he is trying to drag to the left), but we were taking him for a walk. |
| 2006 Rebecca taking a rest during our road trip to Hershey Pennsylvania. This was her first major trip since falling ill in 2005. It turned out to be some kind of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, probably from overwork (CFS is not just "feeling tired", as too many hypochondriacs and malingerers think; it is when you literally can't stand up because your head spins and you feel like you might black out), so she was a bit nervous about taking this trip. However, everything went fine, although she did have lie down in the afternoons in order to conserve her strength. | ![]() |

2009 Rebecca seeking out the sun again, this time on Wasaga Beach, which is a couple of hours north of Toronto. |
