Vanessa Chase in the first scene of "Gangbang Girl #14"

Gangbang Girl #14 is not the raunchiest gangbang, nor does it have the cleverest setup, nor do its actors and actresses have the biggest horse dicks and inflatable tits. However, if you read Internet postings and comments, you will find that I am not alone in saying that it is the gold standard for gangbang videos. So what makes it the gold standard? OK, let's go through the list:
Vanessa Chase: yes, she is not bronze-skinned, nor does she have huge inflatable hooters, nor does she have rock-hard abs. But she is pretty in a girl-next-door sort of way, she actually looks like a real person unlike the average surgically enhanced porn bimbo, and she knows how to play the role of the innocent waif. If you're going to cast a girl in a gangbang video, you should choose someone like Ms. Chase, who looks like she does not do this all the time. Pay particular attention to her momentarily overwhelmed reaction when the first double-penetration begins; you can honestly believe that no one has ever done this to her before. Nothing is more boring than a gangbang video where the girl looks overly comfortable with this behaviour; it's supposed to be out of the ordinary for her! How is a female viewer supposed to identify with a girl who does gangbangs the way the rest of us do lunch? And how many male viewers have fantasies about the town skank rather than the innocent-looking girl next door? Porno videos need more innocent-looking girls, and they could also use a few girls who have to be talked into things, rather than eagerly taking to any activity (no matter how outrageous) like a fish to water.
A setup: yes, this gangbang has a setup. It's not a particularly long setup (only a few minutes), but it establishes the simple background: Vanessa Chase is showing her friend Rebecca Lord the house that her father is building, and he drops the two of them off to look at the construction site while he attends to business elsewhere. The two of them look around at the burly construction workers, giggle between themselves at one whose loose-fitting shorts allow them to see his package, and soon find themselves getting frisky with the boys. Nothing overly elaborate, nothing mean-spirited, and while it's not exactly plausible, at least it shows two girls who are depicted as ordinary people getting involved in a spontaneous gangbang. The whole Gangbang Girl series generally used setups, some of which worked better than others. The Gangbang Angels series also used setups, and there are some setups in the Gangland series, but the Gangland series is highly inconsistent; often there is no effort put into the setup or there is no setup at all.
No misogynist abusiveness: no slapping, no choking, no gagging, no spitting in the girl's face or holding her nose while she has a cock in her mouth so she can't breathe, no verbal abuse or trash-talking. All of that garbage which you increasingly see in newer gonzo and gangbang videos is the legacy of one worthless shithead named Max Steiner (aka "Max Hardcore"). His idea of sexy dialogue is "choke on it, you stupid fucking whore", and it's pretty obvious that his pornos are geared solely toward dateless losers, sociopaths, and abusive husbands whose wives hate them. He and his (unfortunately numerous) fans and imitators are assholes who are slowly destroying the gonzo and gangbang porn genre by making it seem less like kinky thrill-seeking and more like violent abuse. That's why 90s videos tend to be better than more recent ones.
Good camera-work: the camera never stays in one spot for too long. It also shifts between truly varied perspectives, not just four different angles of the performers' bottom halves. This director switches between a shot of penetration to a full-body shot and then to the girl's facial reaction (future porno directors take note: we want to see the girl's face as she reacts to what's happening!). The lighting is also good, with no attempt at cheesy special effects or moody atmosphere.
Good editing: there are no mysterious jumps in time in this gangbang. At no time do you look at the screen and say "wasn't she fully clothed a minute ago?" or "how did she switch instantly from doggy-style vaginal to reverse-cowgirl anal"? At no time do you think "I wonder how she reacted when he first put it in her ass", because you actually saw that moment; it was not lost in one of those mystery time-jumps. A good porn video should make it look as if you're watching a continuous sex act in progress, not watching discontinuous pieces of film which were clumsily edited together.
No giant artificial breasts: do I even need to explain this one? Luckily, neither Vanessa Chase or Rebecca Lord (the two girls in the gangbang) have breast implants as far as I can tell. Actually, the video contains two separate gangbangs, and the second gangbang is nowhere near as memorable as the first. Coincidentally enough, the second gangbang happens to feature Anna Malle, who does have obvious huge breast implants.
No blowjob line-up: one of the most boring and mechanical things you will ever see is the blowjob lineup. If you've watched enough pornography, you've seen this: a group of guys spontaneously form a lineup, and the girl starts on one end of the line and works her way to the other end of the line. Wow, how exciting. How believable. It's fucking mechanical, you dolts! Stop doing it! If you're going to do the really tiresome cliché of having the girl blow every single guy before her own genitals get any attention, at least have them elbow each other out of the way in order to get their turn or something. Yet again, as with many of the previous points, it's about making things seem natural. In Gangbang Girl #14, the guys aren't fighting each other for spots but they aren't lining up mechanically either. You never get that "she has to do her chores before she gets her treat" feeling either, because they start giving her reciprocal oral attention almost from the get-go.
No rimjobs on men: once again, Gangbang Girl #14 avoids yet another thing I hate about modern gonzo and gangbang porn. I don't know who thought people would like seeing men get rimjobs, but I wish the directors of gonzo and gangbang porn would give it a rest. It's even worse when it's a rimjob lineup. I'll just eject the DVD in disgust if I see something like that starting up.
Women being pleasured: in this video, the woman is being fondled, fingered, sucked, or fucked most of the time. That's an important element in gangbang videos which relates back to my complaint about blowjob lineups; a gangbang should be about the woman getting gangbanged, not about the men in the gang.
As I said before, this video (of which I'm mostly talking about the first of its two scenes) is in my opinion the gold standard for gangbang videos. If more directors studied and learned from its various elements rather than doing the "half-assed interview followed by perfunctory action" technique, there would be a lot less garbage on the market.
Laure Sinclair stars in this movie about a businesswoman whose limousine breaks down in the countryside and who wanders into a nearby mansion in search of assistance. She finds a surreal world inside, filled with unbridled sexual activity, and she soon finds herself being drawn into the middle of it. As she changes from voyeur to active participant, she finds herself walking the halls going from one random sexual encounter to the next, all the while being stalked by a strange religious man who rants that she's a whore and a sinner. Naturally, he will eventually succumb to her charms, but only after she has succumbed to the charm of the Maze itself.
Why do I like this movie? It's a Marc Dorcel film, which means that the directing and editing is reasonably good (no small compliment in the world of porno, where most of the directors seem to be hideously incompetent), its story is extremely simplistic so it doesn't get in the way of the sex, and it stars Laure Sinclair. Laure Sinclair is one of the few porno actresses out there who can somehow appear sophisticated and elegant while getting fucked in the ass. She may in fact be the only such actress; I can't think of any others off the top of my head.
Another favoured Marc Dorcel/Laure Sinclair movie is "The First Lady (Les nuits de la Presidente)", in which Laure Sinclair plays a national president who walks the street at night dressed as a hooker, in search of cheap thrills. Once again, as with the Maze, we are treated to the sight of a high-society woman who looks like she should be chairing a Rotary Club meeting, but who is instead getting fucked up the ass. The plot of this one involves somebody blackmailing her because he has photographic evidence of her nocturnal activities. Between "The First Lady" and "The Maze", "The Maze" has a better plot; it's deliberately surreal so it's not as ridiculous as the idea of a country's president streetwalking and not being recognized, and it doesn't waste as much time with plot development or scene build-ups.
This movie is simply hilarious. It revolves around a plumber who only takes jobs visiting women at home during the daytime, when their husbands or boyfriends are away. His modus operandi is to somehow defraud the woman into exchanging sex for his plumbing services, usually by vastly overestimating the cost of the work that needs to be done. The best scene in the movie by far is the first one with Ashley Moore, in which he pretends to fall and hurt his back while he's in her garage and she's not looking. Naturally, in order to prevent a lawsuit for personal injury, she knows what she has to do ...
Technically, I suppose you could argue that this movie is bad because the scenes are somewhat coercive, ie- these women are being tricked and manipulated into having sex with this man. But it's still funny as hell; Rebecca laughed out loud repeatedly when we first watched this movie. And the sex itself is pretty well done too, as one would hope. Unfortunately, the movie's formulaic premise already grows a bit repetitive by the end (the first scene is the only one which really stands out, perhaps because Ashley Moore makes a sincere effort to play the part), so as you can imagine, the sequels are even less imaginative and don't rate as highly.
The whole "Kelly the Co-Ed" series has a light-hearted college atmosphere to it, which is refreshing in an era filled with so much nasty, angry porn. And I must admit that I have not seen the whole series, but of those that I have seen, #17 is the best one. The sex is hot without being mean, there are scenes which take place in a real frat house and seem quite authentic, and there are some pretty good interviews in the "special features" part of the DVD. The first time we watched it, Rebecca actually watched all of the interviews. I also liked #8, but I had to pick one, so I went with #17.
Shayla Leveaux plays a slutty blonde stewardess who finds herself on a charter plane full of men. What to do? I think you know the answer to that question. This is a gangbang film, and she takes them all on. But as it was made quite a while ago, it does not contain the male ass-licking, spitting, choking, or slapping that we tend to find in newer gangbangs. Much like Gangbang Girl #14, it's possible to believe that she might have actually enjoyed making this film.
This is not the equal of Gangbang Girl #14 by any means, but goddammit, the sexy stewardess fantasy is worth a yank on the crank and you know it. I'm not sure how well the Starbangers series sold, but some of the earlier volumes were a bit tame. However, anyone who is familiar with Shayla Leveaux's work will know that this probably won't be the case when she's involved.
"The Intruder"
This is a sort of weird surrealist porno in which we journey through the sexual fantasies of a woman who is apparently being held in an insane asylum. Her first fantasy involves a woman in an oversized version of a child's bedroom, in which a man-sized Jack in the Box pops open and the clown-faced man inside comes out to molest her. We go on to lesbian cowboy fantasies, a comfort woman in some kind of Middle Eastern opium den, and a rape fantasy, among others. The movie ends weakly with a long "romantic sex" fantasy in which they commit the cardinal porno sin of using slow-motion (boo!), but its early and middle portions are so well-done that the film still garners a recommendation. It's also remarkably well-shot for a porn video, suggesting that the director actually had a film-school background rather than being just another jackass with a HandiCam.
The "Violation of" movie series is an acquired taste, and all of its iterations have the same basic setup: a lone woman is raped by a gang of other women. Most of them involve the premise that the woman in question treats the other women really badly so they basically rape her for revenge rather than pleasure (see "The Violation of Brianna Banks" for an example). As a result, most "Violation of" films tend to be a bit too mean-spirited to really enjoy (but if you like the idea of watching a hateful bitch mistreat others and then get punished with a baseball bat up the ass, feel free to watch "The Violation of Audrey Hollander").
Anyway, assuming that viciousness is not your bag, "The Violation of Paisley Hunter" is probably the only volume in the "Violation of" series that you will enjoy. The female is kidnapped and chloroformed and she wakes up in some kind of weird lesbian satanic cult meeting place, but she is not tied down, she is not treated badly, and she seems to reciprocate the lesbians' attentions immediately and voluntarily. There is also none of the angry "take that, bitch!" shouting that you normally hear in a "Violation of" video. So while I wouldn't recommend the "Violation of" series in general, I can recommend this particular iteration of it.
This is a classic example of Pierre Woodman movies, as released by Private Video. It has some unrelated vignettes which take place in that bizarre Private Video world where promiscuous people turn mundane social situations into orgies for no reason at all, it has some unrelated fluff bits about other Private Video productions, and it has what appears to be a casting video. The casting video is the best part of the movie; Woodman picks up two women on the street, interviews them, and despite their initial reservations, he eventually manages to talk them into a porn video tryout.
Of course, it's possible and perhaps probable that the whole casting video was staged and scripted, but damn if it didn't look authentic! Particularly the part about how the two girls in the video initially didn't want to do it (this goes back to things I've said elsewhere about how porno movies need more girls who act like real people instead of super-willing pornsluts).
Future volumes in this series were somewhat similar, but most of them lacked the casting video which was the best part of Superfuckers 1, and of those that did, the girls seemed less like real people (probably because they all exhibit nothing but enthusiasm for the idea from the get-go; I guess I like to see the producer trying to cajole them into doing it). But the original Superfuckers 1 is arguably a classic, regardless of how mundane the rest of the series may have been.
Note: This movie has become increasingly difficult to find lately, especially since Hustler also has a movie series called "Superfuckers", and they're not the same as the Private Video "Superfuckers" movies. Superfuckers #1 is now considered something of a classic, and I was only able to acquire one by purchasing the Private Superfuckers 6-pack of the first six films in the series.
