The databank of the official site has covered this now, and cleared up some confusion...it would seem that the Geonosians are not actually the designers of the Battle Droids, and are building them for Baktoid Armor Workshop. Geonosis, it would seem, is something of a Star Wars Taiwan or Malaysia - having few regulations or inspections makes good business.
