In Japanese, 'Ken' is the sword for sword. (ie, Kenshin means 'Heart of the Sword', kenjutsu means 'sword style', etc.) An Obi is a wide belt with a smaller belt around it. Kenobi, apparently means 'Sword-Belt' translated literally to english.
