: Palpatine crowning himself emperor?maybe but I think that this will take place in the time between episodeIII and episodeIV, the same for the founding of the rebel alliance, which is a direct consequence of this.

Why would Lucas waste so much screen time showing the beginning of Palpatine's rise to power without showing its conclusion? That's what the prequels are all about, the formation of the empire and the "birth" of Darth Vader.

How do I think it will end? Recall the ending of AOTC. Palpatine and other senators stand on a balcony watching the Republic army mobilize. Well, I forsee a similar ending in EP3.

Palpatine stands on a dias giving a speech to the citizens of the Republic (perhaps in the senate building?). He announces that the Separatists have been defeated, and that the traitorous Jedi Knights, who instigated the whole conflict, are being brought to justice. He explains that his lieutenant, Lord Darth Vader, is personally overseeing the destruction of the Jedi. To make the galaxy secure forever, he announces the birth of the Galactic Empire, with him as Emperor. Political bullshit to promise the citizens that they will benefit from this change. After his speech concludes, the crowd erupts in applause. Vader (clad in the infamous armor) steps out from behind a curtain or something, and wispers into Palpatine's ear "It is done, my master." Palpatine faces the crowd again, waving, etc. "You have done well, Lord Vader. Everything is as I have forseen." and then he tops it all off with an evil laugh, like we heard in ROTJ. Camera pans up to the sky as the Death Star appears out of hyperspace. Crescendo, fade to black, Written by George Lucas, THE END!
